BJP alleges scam in procurement of low-floor buses
Harshvardhan, president of the state BJP, on Monday demanded a CBI enquiry into the purchase of 625 non-AC low-floor buses purchased by the Transport department of the Delhi government.
“A bungling of Rs 150 crore has come to light as far as the purchase of the buses is concerned; we had filed RTI applications and the details reveal a scam,” Harshvardhan said. Referring to the information obtained through the RTI, Harshvardhan said the buses have been purchased at higher prices even as other cities purchased the same buses at lower prices.
The 625 non-AC low-floor buses had been purchased by the Transport department from Tata Motors Ltd at the rate of Rs 41,74,468 per bus. The Delhi government will also pay Rs 40,86,000 as maintenance cost in addition to the price till the buses complete 7,50,000 km.
