Telgi pleads guilty in one of the stamp paper scam cases
Abdul Karim Telgi, kingpin of the fake stamp paper scam, today told the special CBI court that he has already sent his application seeking to plead guilty in one of the cases.
Telgi informed special CBI Judge C K Bedi through video conferencing from Bangalore jail that he has couriered his application seeking to plead himself guilty in one of the fake stamp paper cases pending against him.
The court has adjourned the matter till October 7 after hearing Telgi's statement, special public prosecutor Pradip Gharat told PTI.
Earlier, two other accused in the case, including Telgi's nephew Tabrez Telgi, had filed an application stating that they want to plead guilty in the case.
The court had then stated that it would decide on the applications filed by Tabrez Telgi and Mohammad Ashraf after the prosecution completes its arguments on the charges against the seven accused.The case dates back to 1998 when the CBI seized fake stamp papers worth Rs 3,20,150 from Tabrez's Colaba office in south Mumbai.
The seven accused in the case also includes an officer of the DCB CID, Dilip Kamat who had been investigating the case.
